I made another video. I took the input from the first one and cut out the long boring intro. This one gets right to business. I also added bookmarks in the description.
Jeffrey Sokol got swept up in a To Catch a Predator setup soliciting a pre-teen girl for sex. The video starts with a very short recap of the case and Sokol’s confrontation. After that, we get into his interrogation.
I think this video is interesting because the detective makes a lot of very common mistakes. These include: failing to build rapport, being judgmental, getting frustrated, wandering without a plan, and mixing interview and interrogation. The video quality is poor because of the source. This would be a good one to listen to in the car. I don’t comment on any significant body language / non-verbals.
Here is the video:
One of the links in the description takes you to a monologue that I think would have been quite effective with this interviewee.
I know your time is valuable so check the links to skip to the good stuff.
